I live in a security estate and they don't want me to put any solar (hot water or electricity panels) on the roof. How do I go about?
The reason why they refuse is usually aesthetically, so rather go and talk to the committee, asking them what the reasons are. You can negotiate the looks, do they want the geyser inside the roof instead of a whole system on top, the more people you have in the estate who wants to put panels on the roof, the stronger case you can present. You can also argue that it safes electricity, the atmosphere, etc, etc.
I've really had it with our electricity supplier here in South Africa, do you think it makes sense to just cut off my electricity and go over to solar?
If you have existing Eskom connection, don't just cut it off, rather start looking at ways to become efficient in your household. Being energy efficient, can save a lot on your electricity bill, please contact Thea for help. To immediately install a solar hot water system (with normal electricity as a back up for cloudy days or heavy consumption), makes sense, as this will save your electricity bill by up to 45% plus the pay back of such a system is between 5 & 7 years with the savings on your electricity account.
Are you registered at Eskom to ensure a rebate and if so, what are the rebates you are offering?
No, our products are not Eskom registered. We do not do installations ourselves, but work with a network of companies to which we offer ongoing training in the solar electrical as well as solar thermal field.
